Congress is filled with a lot of disgusting, dumb, downright disgusting people, but maybe no more than Rep. Matt Gaetz. Currently under investigation for allegedly paying women for sex and separately sleeping with a minor and transporting her across state lines, Florida lawmakers respond to assault on reproductive rights in May in Tweeter: “How many women who rally against Roe’s overthrow are overeducated, underloved millennials who sadly return from protests to a lonely microwave dinner with their cats, and no bumble matches?” But apparently that was just the start of this oversized frat boy’s ignorant anti-abortion routine, which he continued on Saturday by telling a room full of teens and young adults that any woman who supports human rights reproductive is too ugly for it fk.
Yes, this person, who is somehow allowed to have a say in the making of laws, appeared before a group of students at the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit in Tampa and told them that people who are upset by the devastation of abortion rights across the country need not worry about a lack of access to medical care because no one in his cohort would want to impregnate them anyway.
“Did you watch those pro-abortion, pro-murder rallies?” Gaetz asked. “People are just disgusting. But why are the women least likely to get pregnant the most afraid of having an abortion? Nobody wants to impregnate you if you look like a thumb. These people are hateful inside and out. They’re about 5ft 2in, weigh 350lbs and they say, ‘Give me an abortion or I’ll stand up and walk and protest.’ I think, March? You look like you got weaker ankles than the legal reasoning behind Roe v. Wade. A few of them have to get up and walk. They have to get up and walk about an hour a day, swing those arms, get the blood pumping, maybe toss in a salad.
Aside from the fact that the heart of Gaetz’s part is basically the reverse plagiarism of George Carlin’s really funny person famous line, “Why are most people who are against abortion people you wouldn’t want to fuck in the first place?” it’s pretty amazing for a representative of the US government to respond to the disenfranchisement of millions with insults about people’s appearance. This is all the more astonishing since the chosen one (1) apparently had so few prospects that he should have slept with underage or paid women, and (2) that he is so stupid that he would have left a digital trace of these activities.
Responding to Gaetz’s remarks on Monday, Marjorie Dannenfelser—head of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, an anti-abortion group!—tweeted, “SHAME @mattgaetz for this hideous comment.” Asked to comment, the congressman’s spokesperson simply told Insider that Gaetz is “proud to have an A+ rating from the Susan B. Anthony list.”
